Tuesday Already...

Gosh, Thanksgiving has really crept up on me- and Christmas is like a month away- ahhhhhh! No worries, as I am the most organized last minute hostess you will ever meet- seriously!

Sleep is definitely over rated- right!?! 1:00am table setting is super common!

Anyhoooo, my grocery shopping is complete- only a few last minute items need to be purchased- and the house, well that needs a bit of spiffing up. Example: The dining room table looks like a craft store threw up-lol! Party Box Headquarters, the dining room table! Thank goodness my assistant(hubby) will surely lend a helping hand!

Soooo what does any good hostess need to "assist" her through the holiday rush... a super fabulous cocktail!?! How about this one!

Pear and Cranberry Bellini, courtesy of Martha!

I also like a little mixture of grand marnier, rum, and apple cider! No set recipe, just make to your likings! I made this cocktail at my Halloween party and it was a hit!

Alright... off to clean up PBD Headquarters! Pin It

Spinach Balls...

OK... I KNOW this is waaaay late on the posting list, but this mamma has been ubbbber busy! This is my second favorite holiday app! In fact, spinach balls just smell like Thanksgiving, the aroma that comes from your oven will be seriously mmmmm mmmm mmmm!

Ingredients
2 (10 ounce) packages of chopped spinach, thawed and drained(set aside)
2 cups of stuffing
1 cup of grated parm cheese
1/2 cup of butter(oh yes, that much)
1/2 cup of finely chopped onions, sauteed in butter(set aside)
4 eggs, lightly beaten
1 tsp of garlic powder
1 tsp of black pepper

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a a large bowl combine/mix all ingredients. Then start rolling balls and placing them on a large baking sheet. Bake in oven for about 12-15 minutes.

THE BEST PART... you can freeze them and re-heat!!! Make ahead, and save yourself time on the big day!

Enjoy! Pin It

What better way to say thanks then with a CUPCAKE!

Made these cupcakes for the local Mini Dealership! They are hosting an event for their customers as THANKS!

Buttercream Recipe...

Buttercream icing is by far my most favorite to make and use! It's simply delicious and travels well. I can get serious height, helping to create a ridiculously indulgent treat!

As requested by my awesome blog readers, please enjoy this fantastic recipe!

Jess's Deliciously Simple Buttercream Icing
1/4 c. organic butter
2 tsp. bourbon vanilla extract
4 c. confectioners' sugar
2 tbsp heavy cream

Soften butter and combine vanilla and confectioners' sugar. Mix on medium speed until creamy. Add heavy cream to desired consistency(may add more than 1 tsp). Color may now be added.

I tend to use really large icing tips!

Motivational Letter to ME...

Dear Jess,

You are going to make it! All those late nights, circles under your eyes, strong coffee- all worth it- because you are working towards your dream. Your dream of living your life to its fullest will come true. Keep pushing up that hill, reaching for what you know is well worth all the sweat and tears. Make your little girl proud and inspire others to follow their dreams!

Success after all is not an end result, it's a destination- one filled with personal growth and self worth. If you want something, then go get it! Follow your passions! You have one life- don't let it pass you by. Show Charli that you will continually jump the hurdles life throws at you, setting an example and giving her the tools to follow her very own dreams.

Find inspiration in her smile, in her laughter!

Move over Martha, this lady has got talent! Pin It

Baked Brie w/ Candied Pecans

Ok lets be realistic, cooking for Thanksgiving is A LOT of work- loads actually, so why not cut corners when you can(your guests will have no idea)?!? The above mentioned corner cutting will not compromise taste- I promise!

I would like to share 2 of my most favorite apps ever! They are no fail- simple- tasty- and perfect for the holidays!

Baked Brie w/ Candied Pecans(my recipe title)

1 Round Brie(any kind will do, wholefoods always has a great selection)
1/2 cup Brown Sugar(add more if you like)
1/2 cup of chopped pecans
1 box of fresh raspberries
2 tart apples( I like granny smith)
1 Box of assorted crackers

Heat oven to 355 degrees. Remove the thin white film off the top of the brie with a knife and place brie in a pretty baking dish(no need to transfer once heated as who needs more dirty dishes on turkey day). Spread the brown sugar and pecans over the top of the brie- then softly place fresh raspberries on as well. Bake approx 30 minutes, or until center is a gooey yummy mess.

While the brie is baking, cut the apples into thin slices(but not too soon, as the apples will turn brown, so shortly before its ready).

When the brie is done, remove and surround with apples and crackers!

Soooo beyond simple- and ridiculously delish! So yummy, my camera can never catch pics fast enough, otherwise this mouthwatering app would have a pic!

Will share my famous spinach balls recipe tomorrow, as this momma needs some sleep! Pin It

Flying Anxiety...

Anyone else have this?!?

Bottom line, I HATE FLYING... and I love traveling to new destinations! Although, I must say flying w/child takes my anxiety to a whole new level! BUT...we arrived safely and Charli was wonderful, well maybe a 7 out of 10! Why a 7 & not a 10 you ask...well, this child didn't sleep one iota- even though we purposely booked an evening flight(never again). She also thought it was quite humorous to continually kick the seat in front of her....ahhhhh anxiety kicking into over drive.

Thankfully Florida is less then a 3 hr flight!

Anyhoo, we are off to the pool and then South Beach! Woohoooo!

Happy Monday! Pin It

Thanksgiving is right around the corner...

Where has the time gone, is it really November 4th? How is my baby almost 17 months old- it feels like just yesterday she was itty bitty(tear)?!?! Now she is a walking, temper tantrum throwing speedy lil bugger... but my beautiful bundle of joy nonetheless!

The Holidays are upon us, and this lady better start planning!

Every year we host Thanksgiving dinner, which I truly love. Well, really I would happily host anything- but Thanksgiving is very special. It really is a time to give thanks, as we are all thankful for so very much.

OK Enough babble here... lets get down to the nitty gritty! There are lots of things on my mind- Menu for one! Table setting, wine, cocktails, and floral arrangements! So much to do, so little time.

Within the next few weeks I hope to share my favorite family recipes, beautiful table decor, floral arrangement ideas/suggestions, and money saving tips! Please stay tuned, I promise to share so many of my faves with you!

To kick of the season, here are 2 pictures of last years simple yet pretty- Thanksgiving table decor! It's also an example of both saving money & working with what you have. I had lots of people, and 2 tables that didn't match- however, worked nicely together by adding similar colorful touches on both tables.
