Charlotte's Party, first a story...

Well... I have learned my lesson, even though you hire a photographer- STILL take your own pics!

The party did have a major hiccup... RAIN! We totally set up the entire party, my ocd in full drive- each item perfectly displayed.

THEN hubster says, "Jess it's GOING TO RAIN, R.A.I.N... we should bring everything inside and then set up after the rain."

"OK I say" as devastation and my control freakism kicks into overdrive, in which I grab a cocktail- yes a cocktail, and by cocktail I MEAN COCKTAILS!

So we take EVERYTHING DOWN, even all our pretty tutu poms! EVERYTHING!

I NOW must grab a shower, guests are beginning to arrive- and the decor is not set up, and the photographer was delayed! SERIOUSLY!

SO THEN... GUESS WHAT- IT DRIZZLES... THAT'S IT! YES, really barely a drop! THANK YOU weather channel radar for alerting my husband of this HUGE thunder storm!

Anyhoo... the photographer did a pretty good job, but MISSED so much! I will use him again, but give more direction next time!

Pics to follow...

  1. So sorry about the rain or no rain disaster. With my OCD it would be very hard to leave all the pictures up to someone else. But you really can't beat professional photos. Can't wait to see!

  2. Ahhhhhh! We've all been there before! Trust me!!! This happened to me in April if you remember. I waited 3 weeks ALMOST 4 weeks for professional shots. I literally got 6 shots of my own that were merely just to get shots of everything. Try your photographer again but don't be afraid to try someone new! So many people are getting into photography, so you can find some great inexpensive (or even FREE) photographers that are willing to take on your party to boost their portfolio. But YES, direction is needed...lesson learned from all of us at one point in time!

And at the end of the day, you and your family will always have the memories of such a wonderful lovely party! Can't wait to see the pictures!

  3. That happens to me every year for Cami's party, rain, cold, windy, you name it. This year we are having the party at a restaurant, I just can't deal with those issues any more, even with the help of a mojito. I am the last person enjoying my little girl's happiness.

  4. That is such great advice! You always think everything is going to be perfect and go off without a hitch, and that never seems to happen, ha!!

  5. I had the same issues with Austin's birthday. Except it really did rain and we had to run out to get heaters and plastic sheeting to keep the elements at bay! Not the most gorgeous backdrop :( Our photographer also missed a ton. Lessons learned, though :)

  6. Oh wow! Word of advise to the photographer: invest in a GPS system! They will get you to the location! (Im all over the city with no problem at all ) As a photographer you never want to miss a shot! :)
