Copy Cats... NOT A FAN!

Well... it was bound to happen, just didn't think it would be a previous customer! Had this issue in the past and here it is popping up AGAIN!

Not a fan and def don't like getting emails asking, "Jess... your invites look so great, what paper do you use, oh and what printer do you use, oh and I love that image where did you happen to get it?"

When you planned on launching your own site. SERIOUSLY!?!?

I have spent OOOOOOooodles upon ooooodles of hours researching, blood sweat and tears... this lil dream of MINE, for you to shoot me an email and expect me to just be like YES, HERE... please let me share all my info with you!

Gosh your etsy listings are practically verbatim to mine, changing 2 words does not count!

Be Original...

  5. That's so frustrating! When I first started my blog (I knew nothing about HTML codes, widgets, etc...) & although I'd like to offer advice sometimes it would be frustrating too because work on something on your own. Keep up your great work!

  7. It so sucks and I'm sorry. I have had complete pages copied verbatim along with photos........ it really is a small world and to think "creative" people have to steal others creativity hmmmm just another fly by nighter. Chin up the finished product will never be as good as yours :)

  8. I asked what font you used on something the other day but only because I have an obsession with fonts! I enjoy making things for myself but wouldn't ever copy someone's ideas and plan to sell them. You're right - it is best to be original!! I get more joy out of coming up with my own ideas, and I know you do the same! This person will learn pretty quick they can't get by on stealing other people's creativity. Keep up the good work!

  9. I got an email today from someone who asked me my PRICES...because she wants to know how to price her stuff...... *****crickets*****I have to send it to you....

So many copycats... It's ok to be inspired, just make it YOUR OWN do not copy it!!!! People get upset when you tell them that your information in proprietary because you work so hard to find vendors, research...you can't just give it away, you have to learn for yourself! AGH!!!!! So mad for you! This happened to me and I didn't say a WORD on my blog because I thought oh they've been around for a while, no one will believe me, but I checked the dates and I'm positive that they stole one of my designs and tried to change it up, by a pretty well known design company...but whatever..

Keep pressing forth...You are the only PBD!

  10. I feel your pain.
"Where do you buy your supplies? What kind of equipment to do suggest I buy to start my own business? What do you use? What font is that? I'm not trying to copy... I just love fonts and I really like that one (sorry, Anonymous, but I've heard that one before)
All you can do is be better than the wannabees.
    Which you are.

  12. :( So sorry! Doesn't help to say that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery....." because you know how hard you have worked to get to this point! Not fair to just cut all that out and get the answers. But just think - all of the love and passion is poured from you into your projects, even if you gave that copy cat the exact formula of how you did it - it wouldn't be the same because YOU weren't a part of it.

xoxoxo - hang in there - You're FABULOUS enough to copy!! xoxoxo

  13. I really appreicate the time, energy and generousness you put into your designs and sharing them with us. I "play" with cute little pictures for my kids, both for school & sports. I love putting something together for them and giving it that extra special touch you have in your work. Thank you for all that you do with these and helping moms like me give to our little ones something extra special.
I'm sorry someone has taken advantage of your talent, just remember there's many more that know where we got our help from and we thank you.

  14. Wow! That is just wrong! I think I would expose who they were so they would known and people wouldn't buy from them. Plus they should be embarrassed! How sad! People can be so rude and not give it a 2nd thought. I feel bad for you.

  15. Wow- I'm sorry you're dealing with that. I've made print your own invites on etsy and I have to say I'm jealous that you thought of the different font thing before me ;) but I swear I'd never stoop so low to copy your design! People will realize that your quality is amazing and they'll stick with you..
I make cakes and I've had people ask me for recipes... it's like um no ... lol I've worked hard to make these recipes.. you can't just have them!! :) Hang in there!

  17. So sorry Jess. I get those e-mails all of the time. I don't mind sharing the microsoft word stuff because that's for everyone anyway. But the detailed e-mails are very fustrating. Keep your head up, you know you are the best!

  18. Wow, I come here to read about this after it was posted on Facebook and voiced that I was sorry this had happened, and lovely Rebecka felt the need to quote my response and be rude. You may have heard all sorts of stuff before but there's no need to call someone out on here that is doing nothing wrong. Yes, I do look at fonts all the time just because I love them. I am a teacher and never have any intention of trying to be a graphic designer... ever. Everyone has a love of something, and one of mine happens to be fonts. Yes, it's possible for someone to really love fonts and not intend on stealing someone's work. I am not a "wannabe" because I don't want to be her or you. I just liked her work and thought about ordering something. Next time why not try to be a little nicer?
