10. Have FUN: ONE night a week, enjoy yourself... have a big fatty burger and fries, but come Monday get back into it.
I feel better, I am living better and I am teaching my sweet precious daughter how to enjoy food, in moderation. French fries are a treat, not a norm. She knows this.
There is nothing better then a nice crisp apple, or a big juicy watermelon.
I have never in my life continued to lose weight, until this past year. Now, I didn't follow all those rules at once, it was a gradual process. Now, I do... I am starting to feel like my old self again.
I would like to lose another 30 inches.
THAT person, on the left wasn't happy in her body. She was stuck and a little sad. She didn't quite know how she got there, but she found a way out.
My very first personal training session... I PUKED. Oh it WAS NOT PRETTY.
Every session there after, for about two months I felt like I was going to puke.
TODAY... I am strong, I am thankful and only hope these tips can help you!
The hubs and I entertained this weekend and we wanted to have a fun, interactive meal...
GRILLED PIZZA, we are in LOVE!
It's literally so beyond delicious and the toppings are endless! We decided to make margarita, Mexican, Greek, and sun dried tomato pizzas! WOW is all I can say.
To make grilled pizza, we purchased dough from Trader Joes!
Then separated the dough in half, essentially 8 oz each. I let it rise for about 1 hour, then rolled and brushed it with an olive oil blend. The blend included extra virgin olive oil, sea salt and fresh garlic. This needs to be done so that the dough doesn't stick to the grill.
Place your grill on medium high heat and spray the grill grates. Slide on pizza dough and cook for about 60-90 seconds... until pizza bottom browns and the top bubbles!
NOW turn your grill temperature down, to LOW heat.
Once the dough is cooked, flip it over
and cover the cooked side with anything and everything delicious.
Then bring the pizza back to the grill and spray the grates again with an olive oil spray.
You will need to turn the pizza about a 1/4 turn EVERY TWO MINUTES until the cheese melts.
No one likes burnt pizza! We cooked our pizza's for about 8 minutes each.
Our guests loved each pizza, it was hard to pick a favorite.
It was really fun to have 4 different options... even the kids enjoyed the pizza!
I must admit that this was one of the best meals we have served this Summer and we entertain a lot.
The pizza was sooooo good... we joked about opening our own grilled pizza food truck!
I love smoothies... for many reasons.
Mostly because they have helped me lose weight and begin living a healthier life... a lifestyle change.
In fact, I have lost about 27 total body inches.
I had to get past the idea that FAT.... DOES NOT make you FAT! Processed foods are horrible, the words fat free mean chemical city, and carbs you just can't eat that many.
This smoothie, was interesting... insanely healthy, but you can definitely taste the avocado.
I combined chia seeds, pineapple, avocado, spinach, banana, honey and almond milk!
After all those items were blended, I added ice and blended again.
This smoothie is filled with the most amazing ingredients for your body. Avocados are SO good for your heart, loaded with a variety of antioxidants
and promotes blood sugar regulation! Pineapple helps make you less bloated. Chia Seeds offer omega-3 fatty acids PLUS are rich in antioxidants. Bananas protect against type II diabetes, aid weight loss, are high in fiber and the list goes on and on. Spinach is an excellent source of iron. Local Honey contains pollen that is specific to your area, helping with seasonal allergies. Almond Milk has a high nutritional content, is low in calories and is an excellent food to consume if you are concerned about managing your weight.
Overall, it's a smoothie I will make again... not totally for the flavor, but for the health benefits.
I promise, anyone can host affordable events, especially with DIY printables. Just decide where to spend the bulk of your budget. Invitations really set the tone for the event, so if you spend most of your funds there... then save with some great printables, personalized stickers or straw flags.
A party anyone can host... filled with fabulous style and easy entertaining!
First up... POPCORN + BEER! A crazy fab combo... amazingly easy and delicious.
I love to make my own popcorn on the stove with coconut oil!
Then I season with a little sea salt... delish! I literally have popcorn at all our events.
With any celebration, especially bridal showers or engagement parties there are lots of cheers, congrats, etc. So there must always be fabulous spirits, including these lovely wine labels! We also made the water look gorgeous, with coordinating water bottle labels! Perfect for your guests to take on their ride home, discussing how lovely your event was.
Signature drinks at events are always fun and these shooters are exactly that!
Plus... so incredibly simple, but you guests don't need to know that right!?!?!
Tequila + Watermelon + Simple Syrup
add a touch of fresh lime juice and fresh mint!
Wine Sparklers are a total fave of mine...another SIMPLE cocktail! Wine + Seltzer.
Plus how darling are these drink flags?!?! Affordable + adds that lovely personal touch.
I LOVE to entertain, really any chance I have. BUT I love simple affordable recipes and cocktails.
Basic, delicious foods. Flavors that pop, and colors that are bright.
Watermelon + Feta ='s pretty crazy amazing!
Soooo in this very post, you have 4 drink options and 2 simple appetizers...
with a grocery list under 10 items.
Just like the blog title, Entertain with affordable style!
Would also like to give some vendor love to The Flair Exchange for the lovely tassels, which make the perfect backdrop to any entertaining space!
Dear Charlotte, your birthday party posts always make me tear up... usually starting the moment I begin typing. Tears slowly roll down my face as I see how fast time goes by, how fast you are turning into a little person. How proud I am to be your Mama. Ahhhh someone bring me a tissue!
You are five, five years old and bubbling over with personality. You are an artist, and can draw for hours, you talk with your hands and its precious.
My beautiful girl inside and out, the most amazing smile that just shines through... your gorgeous big brown eyes filled with wonder. I love you to the moon and back times 10000044400055736283994!
I hope when you are older, you will look back at these photos
and cherish these beautiful memories and realize that you too,
When the kids came through the back gate, towards our pool... they literally arrived at the boardwalk! We had cotton candy, snow cones, boardwalk dogs and fries... you name it, we had it!
INCLUDING an actual BOARDWALK!
My husband and family friend literally dug up one we found washed ashore on the beach, no joke. These men carried this million pound boardwalk to the truck,
loaded it up and placed it in the back yard.
In order to access the yummy food, the children had to step up onto THE BOARDWALK!
The table housing all the goodies was built by my husband from reclaimed beach wood!
Amazing and oh so special!
This is the best party we have ever thrown for Charlotte, as I don't think there was a child without a smile on their face... so many giggles, jumping in the pool...
then back out to nosh on some more treats!
We did have a splash free zone for the adults to enjoy some treats as well!
All found at The Crabby Bar... beer, wine and cocktails! Y'all know I can't host a party without some fabulous water bottle labels, and a fun bar
which has been repurposed for each of our parties!
The boardwalk is filled with delicious treats, and our party was no different.
Including SALT WATER TAFFY... which came directly from the Jersey Shore!
I bought a simple white cake from the grocery store and lined it with taffy, inexpensive and so cute.
This party holds a special place in my heart because I am a Jersey girl. I wanted to incorporate what I remember as a child, visiting the boardwalk.
The first time Charlotte placed her feet in the ocean, was at the Jersey Shore.
It also felt important because of Hurricane Sandy...
Hurricane Sandy was the deadliest and most destructive hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, as well as the second-costliest hurricane in United States history. My heart goes out to those who are still rebuilding, and who lost more then I could ever imagine.
This party would not have been possible without some fabulous vendors.
In fact, I dedicated a special post to them... including a review for each of them!
